Good Morning!

Thank you all for your warm congratulations yesterday with regards to my Paper Crafts publication! I’m glad that you are as excited as I am!! And thanks to Megan for commenting and telling me that she didn’t think I was a nut on the phone, LOL! :D

I wanted to dive in to some of my Ellen H goodies last night, so I pulled out my pearls, and a buttercream Arturo note card. I wanted to do a simple and elegant design, since these notecards are SO plush! So I said “simple”, right? Ummmm…yeah….read on to see how “simple” it was, LOL!

I have loved this SU! flower dress stamp from the first moment I saw it. I thought it would be the perfect image to stand alone on this beautiful paper. I stamped it using Memories black ink, then watercolored it using so saffron and lovely lilac reinkers. Since I have the patience of an *ant*, I dried it with my heat gun, then added the tiny self adhesive pearls to the dress. I used the medium sized ones along the bottom, and the smallest ones all over the rest of the skirt. Then I sat there and stared at it for 15 minutes. LOL! I pulled out several different ribbons from my stash and played around trying to figure out how I wanted to attach it to the card. I found this purple plaid ribbon that I bought at Michael’s months ago. It seemed to coordinate nicely, so I snipped off a piece, and was going to just tie it in a knot and glue-dot it to the card under the dress. Well, another 15 minutes later, and plenty of cursing (LOL!) I decided that I could not tie a knot that looked acceptable *eyes rolling*. Hmmmm what to do, what to do…..*lightbulb*. I know!! I’ll use my handy dandy anywhere hole punch, and punch 2 holes on either side of the bodice where it meets the skirt, then do the “no tie bow”!!! OK I was diggin’ that.

So the final step was to stamp the sentiment. With the PaperTrey clear sentiment that should be a piece of cake, right? WRONG!!!! LOL!! I stamped it on the cardfront, and the stinkin’ thing was crooked!! (Insert more cussing here, LOL!) Gawd, what was I gonna do now?! Hmmmm how about if I stamp the sentiment on a piece of barely banana cardstock and mat it with lavender lace? So I trimmed the cardstock, and stamped the sentiment again. Guess what? IT WAS CROOKED AGAIN!!! Flipped the cardstock over, stamped it again. CROOKED!! Cut another piece of banana cardstock. Stamped it again. CROOKED AGAIN!! OK I was seriously ready to fling the card across the room, LOL. So, I took a deep breath, flipped the cardstock over, and then looked at the sentiment on the block. It had clung to the block *slightly* crooked, and while it wasn’t so obvious on the block, it was when I stamped it. Sooooo I fixed it on the block, stamped it *one more time* and HOORAY!! it was straight!! LOL! I mounted it to the lavender panel, then added just a bit of piercing to give it a little visual interest. Adhered it to the cardfront (on top of the first crooked sentiment!) and called it done.

So there you have it! A SIMPLE card, LOLOLOLOL!! I hope you have a great day today! :D Hugs!!

Stamps: butterfly kisses,(paper trey ink) blooming with happiness (SU!)

Paper: Arturo buttercream note card, barely banana, lavender lace

So glad to know that even the people I most admire have days when things go wrong. I have days like that nearly all the time. Beautiful card! I love the details like the pearls and ribbon. Thanks for sharing with us!

LOL — Oh, the perils we go thru just for a card, eh?!! Regardless, it turned out beautiful!

Simply gorgeous!!! I didn’t get a chance to congratulate you yesterday — but wow — good for you! I wish you continued success and there’s no doubt this is just the beginning of a long list of publications we’ll see from you!!

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for the making of this card. You are too funny. I can see it now….Love this card so it was well worth the many “hours” you spent on it .ha ha

laughing….I hate it when that happens and even worse when you think it’s straight and you go back later and it’s crooked and you have to fix it then…
Why in the world didn’t I see it the first time….where are the elves when you need them?!!!!

So very fem! I have done absolutely nothing with this set! And so gratifying to know that even stampin’ divas can mess up that final element - the greeting! Thanks for sharing that with us, Trudee. LOL

First, I love this unique and beautiful card! I have admired many of your contributions on SCS which is what led me to your BLOG. Secondly, I am glad someone else admits to at least 1 difficult incident getting a straight image with a clear stamp!

You’re making me laugh…I’ve had the same experiences lately w/ crooked sentiments using my paper tray set from papertrey–ugh! I still love the stamps though–I’ve decided it’s me, not the stamps?!

Thanks for the laugh this morning! It is soooo nice to know that the “best of the best” (that is how I think of you!) has “some” problems too! I allways thought you just stamped a card the first time and it turns out Beautiful. Well, even with the problems you had, this still turned out Awesome! I love that stamp, but it looks like it is so hard to color in. Pearls are Awesome! I can’t wait to get my pearl order from Ellen! Have A Happy Day!

Awwww Trudee *pats back*……it DID turn out FABULOUS tho - I can hardly believe how many of those pearls you used - you have much more liberal tendancies than I (might I be stingy??? ROFLOL!!) my friend!! :)

The ribbon is absolutely perfect!! And the dress is so beautiful. LOVE this card!

    Trudee,
Such a funny story! I think you wrote it about me! Ha! Better luck next time… ;o)

My goodness! I’m totally in love with this card!!!!! It takes my breath away!

It IS a beautiful card, Trudee, and what patience you must have to sit there and attach all of the pearls, much less keep at it with the ’sentiment’ issue. I have a set of those cards, and I’m afraid to try stamping on them because I don’t want to ‘mess them up’ and waste my money…I’ve got to work on that.
You know, Trudee, Papertrey sells those clear blocks with the grid lines…wouldn’t that help in situations like this? LOL….like you don’t already know that, but I just had to say it…(insert a sheepish grin while winking, here). Hugs, Barb g

Ahhhhh, Trudee! I can really relate to stamping something a million times before it’s straight! I really enjoyed your post and the card is FABULOUS! I love those pearls! I will have to go and check them out.

  21. Peggy Maieron 18 Apr 2007 at 7:15 pm

Thanks for giving me a laugh! How many times have I done this same thing?! It’s good to know someone else has these problems - I don’t feel quite so bad.

  22. Heidi K.on 18 Apr 2007 at 7:22 pm

This is great! Love the pearls and the ribbon!

  23. mnhyrkason 18 Apr 2007 at 8:44 pm

cute card! Your problem is exactly why I stamp sentiments with acrylics on a scratch paper first. I’ve definitely learned the hard way. Great save!

  24. leslierichon 19 Apr 2007 at 1:27 am

But, Trudee, you make it look so easy! You sure saved it and turned it into something fabulous! Is this the same dress I see in the catalog? Geez! Bet SU! had no idea how amazing it could look! p.s. Thanks for tagging me…I came here to see if you’d been tagged yet…

  25. Valon 19 Apr 2007 at 1:34 pm

    Love this card!

I am LOL at the picture I have of you in my head when that damp sentiment was crooked! I’ve DONE exactly the same thing with those clear stamps! This is how AR I am now, I use the jig, yup, the jig with clear stamps…..I know, IMA DORK! LOL

  26. Joan Bon 20 Apr 2007 at 8:20 am

too funny, but gorgeous outcome. Not sure I’d have the guts to use so many pearls on one card, but the result is stunning!

  27. Lisa Bon 21 Apr 2007 at 11:23 am

Absolutely gorgeous card! The pearl accents and ribbons make this truly spectacular! One of my favorite stamps turned into an amazing work of art!
