Friday Favorites!

Published by trudee at 7:35 pm under Friday Favorites

Hello!!! Today was a whirlwind of a day, and I was unable to get all of this posted before work, so here I am! Better late than never, right? :D

Today’s favorite is Metallic and Shimmer cardstock from Cutcardstock.com! As you well know, I love anything that shimmers. I know I featured shimmery paper last week, but this is solid cardstock in a variety of colors at an affordable price! I needed to find something to replace my beloved SU! shimmery white cardstock. At 7.95 for only 10 sheets, it was just too expensive. Now I have found this glorious cardstock that is of equal quality and MUCH more affordable: 14.50 for 50 sheets!

The two different lines are “Curious” and “Stardream”. Curious Cryogen White is the identical match to SU! Shimmery white. It might be a teensy bit lighter weight, (it’s 89lb) but barely noticeable, IMO. Curious Poison Ivory is a shimmery vanilla/ivory. I have wanted this for F-O-R-E-V-E-R!!!! It is pure creamy shimmery bliss, I tell ya! Another cool one is Virtual Pearl. This one is white, but it has purplish/bluish pearl shine. GORGEOUS!!! Plasma Blue is like a shimmery bashful blue, and Cyber Grey to me, looks like a shimmery Soft Sky. Morphing Mauve is like pale plum, with a greenish iridescent pearl. VERY cool.

Here are some comparison pics for you:

The next batch are the Stardream Metallics. These are heavier weight (105 lb) than the Curious line. they are 8.95 for 25 sheets. Here’s a few comparisons for you:

All of these particular metallics can be seen HERE. My faves from this line are Bronze (like a gold shimmer chocolate chip), Copper, Lapis (shimmery night of navy), Mars (shimmery ruby red), Onyx (black), Antique Gold, and Silver.

Here’s 2 more palettes from the Stardream line. Chiara: These are similar in color to soft sky, celery (with a hint of mint!), blush blossom, pretty in pink, pale plum, and apricot appeal. Sooo soft and pretty!! I really like all of them!

And this is the Fuse palette. Similar in color to turquoise, brocade blue, wasabi, pumpkin pie, the old marvelous magenta, and rose red:

The only pack I didn’t order was the Curious Metallics. It looks like that has the copper, gold and silver that is a near match to SU. (bronze ore, gold leaf and ionised, I am thinking). I will order that, and when it arrives, I will let you know if those are a better match to the SU! ones. I actually like a wide selection of shades, so it’s nice to be able to have a choice!

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you all have a great weekend!!!! waving

Yeah, Trudee! I found my Cryogen White at Paperzone.com, but it is an exact match to SU weight and all. I know it was more than what you paid, though. I was so happy to find that so now, I can actully demo with it!

Enjoy all that pretty paper, and thanks for the research!

a woman after my own heart. I have been using Stardream for sometime, and we don’t have SU shimmery white here. As I am more used to the other metallics, the SU colours disappointed me at first, but now I love the extra options they give me. There must be another brand that we have here in Aus or Stardream have renamed things because I don’t recall those names (the Fuse range) but know I have had very similar colours

Ooh! I love those! Question, Trudee- when you punch the brighter colored papers do the edges show up white? Not exactly sure how to describe what I am saying but I got some of the Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS in my last packet from my lss for their Design Team. When you used a punch with that, you got ugly white almost ragged edges with it. I would so love to find some that the edges remained true to color! Fridays Fav. are one of my Fav. posts! Thanks!

hi, I actually did compare these, and bronze ore is not the same, however the silver and gold do have a match in this pack. I have yet to find the copper that matches the SU copper. But you will love the colors in this pack as well.

Wow! What a great resource! Thank you so much for the referral — I love SU shimmery white but was dismayed at the price. It is so nice to have a less expensive alternative.

Oh, how funny — I just ordered a bunch of these multi-packs this week, too, Trudee! Glad you liked the source for the Poison Ivory cardstock — it’s divine, isn’t it? Great stamping minds love shimmer, eh?!!

Ooooo who doesn’t love shimmer??? Question - have you tried to watercolor on the shimmery white and ivory? I watercolor on the SU shimmer white all the time so I’m just curious if it works well on this paper also? Thanks!

  11. […] OH my gorgeous! Now, you can see a SU! color comparison and recommendations over on Trudee’s blog. There is no need for me to re-invent that wheel. What I can tell you is CutCardStock is AWESOME! I […]
