I’m still here

Published by trudee at 9:28 am under Just chattin'

 Hey everyone,

I’m here, but am playing nurse to my 13 yr old chocolate Lab. She had a visit to the emergency vet and we got home at 3am yesterday morning, then another trip to my regular vet later in the morning. She’s doing OK today, and I hope that she can hold on through Christmas. Please keep her in your prayers? Thank you!

Edited to add: Thank you for all of your prayers and concern. Shelby is doing OK, and I am hopeful that she will continue on this path for awhile longer.

We ended up in the doggie ER at 5 in the morning with our 13 yr old border collie last week too. She is doing better now thankfully but we are on a day by day basis with her right now too so I know what you are going through. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear your fur baby is not doing well. It is so hard to see them sick and go through so much. I just went through this last month and I know how painful it is for you. Sending good vibes your way.

  22. Mary Kon 13 Dec 2007 at 9:34 am

I hope she feels better too and can spend another Christmas with your family. It’s always hard when your furry family members start getting up in years. My parents recently lost their two kitties of 20 yrs (within 4 months of each other) and it was hard on all of us. When they’re ready I plan to get them some new little fuzzy friends.

Oh, if only we could be spared this part of owning and loving an animal. My thoughts will definitely be with you and your beloved doggie, Trudee. Linda

OH my goodness. I know exactly how you feel. My chocolate lab, Cocoa will be 10 years old at the end of this month. I also have a black lab, Ebony, who just gave birth to her 2nd litter on Dec 7th Pearl Harbor Day. And, I have her son, Zorro from her first litter born on Mother’s Day this year, so he just turned 7 months.

She had 8 gorgeous puppies, 6 black (2 male & 4 female) and 2 chocolate (1 female & 1 male). The stud fee is taking the chocolate male, but I have all the rest for sale as they are AKC registered with papers. I had their dew claws removed this past Monday and they will get their shots at 6 weeks, then be good to go at 8 weeks around February 8th.

Here’s some pics of them in my free radio station classified ad:

    Trudee,

Damn dogs! They work their way into your hearts, don’t they? I’m so sorry that she(?) isn’t feeling well. Wish I could spare you & your family the grief, but then it would also take away the wonderful 13 yrs of joy that you’ve had with her. you & your family & your baby lab are in my thoughts. Take care!

My thoughts are with you. We have also had a trying month with one of our beloved doggies. She is a 7 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We have only had her since late September of this year, but we love her and feeling sad that we are now finding out about some problems she most likely had when we got her. Oh well, at least we know that she is now in a wonderful, safe, caring, and loving home. We will love her as long as she is with us! Take care!

  30. Conniecrafteron 13 Dec 2007 at 3:15 pm

Hope she is feeling better soon!

  31. Lyndaon 13 Dec 2007 at 3:33 pm

Animals have such a way of becoming part of our family that it is so difficult when they are ill. Know that you have given her many years of love and happiness and when it is best to give her up you will know you are doing the right thing.
    My thoughts are with you.

I’m sure your heart-strings are being tugged at, Trudee … this is the part of sharing our lives with our beloved pets that we dread the most. Enjoy whatever time you have left with her. She is so lucky to have you in her life and you are just as lucky, to have her in yours.

  33. janetwmarkson 13 Dec 2007 at 6:24 pm

I know this is such a hard time for you all. I hope she can hang on too. I just lost my wonderful hound this summer and it is weird how this is the first Christmas in 12 years not having him here. They are just as important as our kids. We are all family. Lots of pup kisses and hugs to you and yours. You are all in my prayers. Janet in NC

Best wishes, Trudee. It will all be ok. i am getting ready to embark on the beginning of a relationship like what you have. We lost our sweet huxley about 2 years ago and are now adding two new members to the family for Christmas. It was hard to even think about at first because of the heartache, but we have so many great memories of him. (and miss him all the time)

  35. Heather Rolinon 13 Dec 2007 at 10:20 pm

I’m sorry your dog is not doing very well. I know how that goes cause we just had to put our 4 year old chocolate lab to sleep today ourselves. We are having a tough time, but I hope things will be ok on your end.

Oh, dear, Trudee. I know how you love your dogs. I’m a little late checking in here, but I hope everything’s okay. This is one of the hardest things to bear, especially because I’m sure she’s uttered not one word of complaint. My heart is truly with you. I wish I didn’t understand how it feels, but I do.
