My word for 2008
My friend Lisa Strahl posted on her blog about choosing a word that will be significant in your life for the year to come.
I have been giving this some thought. Last night, as I was falling asleep the word came to me. I’d like to share my word with you, and I would love for you to share your word with me!
Serendipity
Pronunciation [ser-uhn-dip-i-tee]
–noun
1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.
2. good fortune; luck:
I think my serendipitous journey began in the latter part of 2007, and I look forward to the unknown path that lies before me.
Serendipity in my career, and serendipity in love. Bring it on, 2008! ![]()

I like your word for the year. I think that mine is going to be “Attitude”. My attitude can make such a difference each day. I can choose to have a positive attitude when things are not so good. I can choose to have a “just do it” attitude in exercise, goals, creating…etc. My attitude can make such a difference each day!
I love your word, Trudee! I don’t have a word for this year, but a phrase. I found a bracelet in the Brighton store in Las Vegas a couple of days ago, and it just seemed to fit–”Remember to Play”
Too often, I find I take myself and those around me (particularly my children) too seriously. By remembering to play, I’m reminded that we much live each moment to its fullest. I don’t want to look back and wish I’d had more fun with my family (as my kids are growing way too fast–13, 10, 10, & 8)!
I subscribe to Ali Edwards blog and she does this each year. I’m thinking of doing it too and several words have come and gone through my mind. I think I’m going to decide on this word: Learn.
Great word Trudee! Love it! Best wishes for 2008! I’m sure it will be a wonderful one for you!
That’s a great word - love it. I’ve been thinking about this myself and can’t come up with one word that sums it all up for me, yet.
Best wishes for the new year - I so enjoy your work and look forward to your blog updates. You’re so creative! Thanks for sharing all those great ideas!
Beth (mommy to a precocious 4-yr old)
Great choice for your word! Best wishes for it all to come your way, Trudee! you deserve it!
May your have much serendipity in 08 and beyond! Hmm, if I had to choose a word for ‘08 it would be attitude. Got to work on my attitude!!!!
Wonderful word my friend! You know I wish you everything your heart desires in 2008 and then some! I remember reading about this last year on someone’s blog and I never could seem to find a word. Lately, when the daily things aren’t going in the direction that I hoped they would, I continue to tell myself that, “Each day is a Gift.” Puts everything into perspective for me and it seems to keep me positive and happy about whatever silly, little predicament that I find myself in…so I’m going with it!
What a wonderful word and what a great idea! I will have to try to think of a word for 2008 for myself. I really like that idea!… Thanks so much for sharing!
Hmmm…well, I’m hoping a key word for 2008 will be “organization” - returning to work after a year of maternity leave and a planned move will all be that much smoother if I can just get organized!!
Thanks for the motivation
Alison
Serendipity is such a great word - I love it. My word for 2008 is Eliminate. For me it will be used on many levels this year, such as weight, clutter in my house, stress, books I’ve no longer need to keep, stacks of paper in my office… you get the picture
Great word, Trudee. I’ve got to give some thought for my word. You deserve a great 2008!
