This limited edition Mini John Cooper Works GP is powered by a specially-tuned version of the 1.6-liter engine producing 218 horsepower. It has an aluminum cylinder block and bearing mounts, reinforced pistons, sturdier cylinder head, low-weight crankshafts and sodium-filled exhaust valves. Twin-scroll turbochargers, BMW’s Valvetronic variable valve technology and direct injection all help the torque characteristics. It produces 192 lb.-ft. of torque at 1750 rpm and for short periods it can produce 207 lb.-ft. from 2000 rpm with an over boost function. According to Mini this lets the John Cooper Works GP scoot from 0-62 mph in just 6.3 seconds with a top speed of 150 mph.
