Follow Your Bliss…

I’d like to wish all of you a very Happy Mother’s Day! I just got home from brunch at the Biltmore Estate. It was delicious.

I created this card for my Mom, using the Lizzie Anne set, “In the Meadow”. It’s paired with some Basic Grey Sugared patterned paper, and features the “poppin’ pastels” technique.

I love the vintage feel of these two patterns, and used that as my inspiration for the card. I used several colors of SU! pastels for the flower: pretty in pink, regal rose, caramel, moss, olive. It’s also heavily sponged with Ranger Distress ink in antique linen, and vintage photo. Cardbase is one of my new favorite colors, Prism frosted azalea.

I didn’t have a button that perfectly matched, so I airbrushed a celery colored button with my YG95 Copic marker. Yet another fabulous use for that awesome tool! I stamped “mom” on a piece of scrap, then covered it with a page pebble, and trimmed. This word is from Lizzie’s “Just Words 2″ set. The sentiment is also from Lizzie Anne: “Au Naturale”.

TGIF!! As usual, I am SO GLAD it’s Friday! My favorite day of the week.

A few days ago, I shared a very simple card, using this daisy from Lizzie Anne’s In the Meadow set. I created this card at the same time, but gave it a totally different look.

I’d been wanting to use more of my Basic Grey Sultry paper, so I flipped through the pad to see what inspired me. I LOVE this larger floral print, so I used that as my inspiration. The cardbase is Prism intense kiwi cardstock which had been run through my Wizard with the long rectangle Spellbinders Nestability die. I placed it on the edge of the cardfront to give the scalloped edge.

The focal image is on cryogen white cardstock, colored with my Copic markers: RV11, RV17, RV34, YG03, W2,W3. I added Lizzie Anne’s Say it in Script sentiment, Paris Dew Drops, and a lotta’ Stickles to the flower centers. The inside of the card is lined with the solid bright pink paper from the Sultry pad, that had been stamped with the solid flowers from the Lizzie set in Adirondack raspberry ink. A large “no tie” bow in this divine May Arts ribbon with some frayed ends finishes off the design. This is a standard A2 sized card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2)

I was chatting with Lindsey the other day, and she mentioned she was having a challenge with her new Design Team. The challenge was to use pink, green and gray for a Thank You card. It’s been awhile since I participated in a challenge, so I accepted!

When SU! came out with this basic gray cardstock and charbon (is that the right name?) patterned paper, I just HAD to have it. Hmmmm…let’s see that was about 10 months ago?? This is my first time using it! *eyes rolling* Can you relate? LOL! I paired it with Neenah classic cream, and Prism frosted azalea.

I just love this Far East set from Lizzie Anne! I stamped the branch in Adirondack slate ink, then stamped the tiny flowers in Adirondack raspberry ink. I cut and embossed this with the new Spellbinders long rectangle Nestability die, and matted it with the azalea scalloped panel. I still needed to add my green element, so I chose to stamp the lantern in Adirondack meadow ink, trim it out, and cover it with Ranger glossy accents.

The sentiment is embossed with detail white embossing powder, and the tiny flowers have lime green Stickles in the centers.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

I worked on several designs yesterday, and was so pleased with this one! This card is for my Uncle’s birthday. Masculine designs can be so difficult sometimes, but this one came together rather quickly.

I haven’t made a matchbook card in *ages* it seems! They are so easy, and the recipient almost always thinks it’s a “wow”. I stamped the CHF woodgrain backgrounder on kraft cardstock using Adirondack mushroom ink. I re-inked a portion of the woodgrain and stamped it horizontally on the bottom flap, then stamped it again without reinking to give it a teeny bit of dimension.

The focal image, Lockhart’s adirondack chair, is on shimmery cryogen white cardstock, and colored with my Copic markers. I cut and embossed it with my square Spellbinders Nestability die, then I masked the chair, and airbrushed the sky with B21. I colored the rest of the image with: E31, 55, 57, 99, R59, G99, YG17.

Rather than going with the customary scalloped matting, I chose to keep the lines straight on this. I selected a larger embossed square from Prism birchtone dark cardstock, and added the tiny tab for the sentiment, using SU! everyday flexible phrases. I added 3 Karen Foster thumbtack brads to the bottom flap, then adhered that together with a strip of redliner tape, because I didn’t want to have the brad prongs showing through the back of the card.

Sometimes, I just feel like a clean design. Most of the time, I have an aversion to “wide open spaces”, though. I think it’s because I enjoy backgrounder stamps and patterned paper so much. This design is about as “clean” as they come. Hope you like it!

I’ve completed 4 designs today using this “In the Meadow” set from Lizzie Anne Designs. I absolutely adore this daisy image! It’s stamped on shimmery cryogen white cardstock, then colored with my Copics. I used B00 for the sky, Y17 and Y38 for the daisy center, YG17 for the stem, B21 for some highlights on the white petals, and W2 for shading. It’s matted with Prism black cardstock.

The “pennant” style sentiment adds a fun element to the design, by stapling it to the focal image with a single black making memories staple. I adhered this to the Prism sunflowers medium cardbase on foam dimensional tape.

I was going through several of my square making memories rhinestone brads, trying to decide on the “right” color. I had 4 choices: yellow, blue, green, and clear. I went back and forth with them for what seemed like an eternity! I finally settled on the pale green. I like how it ties in with the tiny bit of green in the flower stem.

I removed the prongs from the brads, and simply adhered the square jewels with mini glue dots. I didn’t want the prongs of the brads to show inside of the card. A final touch of Stickles on the flower petals complete the design.

Last week I created a card using the Karen Lockhart chintz butterfly. After I created that card, I made this one, using the flowers in chintz image. This was one of the images I colored when I was at the cabin in GA.

As with the other images I colored with my Copics while I was away, I colored it “freestyle”, using nothing but nature as my inspiration. As I looked through my stash for things to coordinate with it, I came across this Memory Box homespun patterned cardstock. I thought it worked nicely with the blues and yellows in the image.

I added a strip of the striped cardstock to the blue print, then cut and embossed it with my narrow rectangle Nestability die. I added the PaperTrey sentiment, some silver brads, and some of this *divine* May Arts ribbon.

I chose Prism’s sunflowers medium for the cardbase, stamped with CHF’s petite pattern backgrounder in Adirondack butterscotch ink. For some added detail, I added Stickles to the flowers, and covered the pitcher in Ranger glossy accents. I used the following Copic markers: B21, B23, Y21, Y17, Y38, YG03, YG17, V12, V15, RV34, RV17, E77, W3.

Oh I’ve been having fuuuun with my Rubber Soul/Wordsworth stamps! This little chickie is from the “It’s Your Day” set. I did something different with her.

This Memory Box Sugar cardstock is high on my list of favorites. I know–I have a lot of favorites, but it’s true! I had several pieces of scrap, so decided to use them in a patchwork layout. I machine stitched them to a coordinating Memory Box notecard, and set it aside.

This little chickie was stamped on the small floral pattern in Versamark ink, and embossed 3 times for a thick, glossy look. I cut her out, and colored in her eye with my black Copic Multiliner pen. Here’s a detail shot:

I used 2 more patterns for the circle, cutting and embossing it with my Nestability dies, and matting it with a scalloped panel. I added the sentiment, and adhered the chickie on dimensionals. The pink houndstooth panel was looking a little “blah” to me, so I added 3 Martha Stewart vellum flowers to liven it up a bit. I finished it off with some Michael’s ribbon, tied through 3 punched holes on the left.

This card has a lot of patterns going on, but I think it works? I hope so, LOL! Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Hello! Here I am writing my blog entry at 1am….zzzzzzzzz… It’s been a long day!

I went to the nursery this morning to pick out several plants for my new landscaping!! OMG I am SO EXCITED about it! Right now the front of my house is pretty “blah”, and I’ve wanted to have it landscaped for a long time. Thanks to Uncle Sam, it’s possible. I’ll be sure to share before and after pics with you!

I created this card this weekend, and am really happy with how it turned out. Hope you like it too?

I haven’t used my Lockhart La Fleur Couture stamps in awhile, and I don’t think I’d ever used this lavender/primrose one! It’s one of my very faves, though. I paired it with another fave…Memory Box sprout patterned cardstock. It’s colored with my Copics, (YG03, YG17, V15, V17, Y17, Y21) then cut and embossed with my petite oval Spellbinders Nesties. It’s matted with a scalloped Prism frosted amethyst panel, and popped up on another scalloped layer from the sprout paper pack.

I wanted to do something a little different with the Spellbinders double ended tags. I decided to cut and emboss the largest one from the striped pattern, then adhere it to the center of the cardfront. I then added some Bazzill eyelets, and threaded the Creative Impressions ribbon (from my LSS) through. I mounted this to a white cardbase, then adhered the focal image.

Lastly, I stamped the Verve Visual sentiment, and blinged up the dress with my favorite star dust Stickles!

I needed to make a card for my nephew’s graduation, but realized I didn’t have any graduation stamps! Sheesh. I was digging through my stash of Rubber Soul and Wordsworth sets, when I spied the word “graduation” in this Happy Everything set. YAY!

I chose some great masculine paper from Basic Grey’s Archaic line, also using the solid distressed green, and distressed cream color from the pad. I cut and embossed a narrow scalloped rectangle with my Spellbinders Nestability die, then airbrushed it with the die in place using my YG06 Copic marker. When I removed the die, it left the cream edge, which makes it look like another layer. Cool!

I stamped the sentiment, then colored it in using Copic YG17, and B95. I added some shadows with W3. This Martha Stewart ribbon is masculine enough, so I didn’t feel badly adding it to the card. Some aged copper brads, and dimensionals under the scalloped panel complete the design.

I think this works for a young man graduate~~do you?
